Concert of the Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine with works by Cayetano Pagueras and Juan París

The Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine will offer two concerts in the basilica of the monastery of San Francisco de Asis. The first one will be on June 20 and the second one next June 27, at 6:00 pm, under Leonor Suarez´s direction.

The Cayetano Pagueras and Juan Paris’s musical work will be performed as the first appearance by Sine Nomine accompanied by the Orchestra of the Higher Institute of Art, joined to the Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana, directed by José Antonio Méndez, as part of the rescue and spreading of the Cuban musical patrimony.

Cayetano Pagueras is the oldest compositor, whose paintings and handwritings are conserved. His work estimated in more than 80 musical pieces, dates from the last third of the XVIII and first years of the XX centuries. Only 17 pieces have been found up to now, thanks the dedication and exhaustive search made by the musician Mirian Escudero in the capital church of La Merced of Santiago de Cuba, the Cathedral of Mexico and Puebla of Los Angeles.

The musical creation by Juan París, master of chapel of Santiago de Cuba between 1805 and 1845, Esteban Salas follower in that eastern headquarter, has been the study subject of the musicologist Claudia Fallarero. Thanks her, some compositions will be given to know in Sine Nomine interpretations.

Among the spreading labor made by the Studio of the Musical Patrimony Esteban Salas of the direction of the Cultural Patrimony, of the Office of the Historian of Havana City, two disks will be recorded with Cayetano Pagueras and Juan París works. They were compositors at the service of the music in the cathedrals of Havana and Santiago de Cuba, respectively.

These monographic discs will constitute the first suggestion of the collection Documentos Sonoros del Patrimonio Musical Cubano, in which Sine Nomine and the Orchestra of the Instituto Superior de Arte will offer the interpretation legacy to rescue and spread the work of these outstanding masters of chapel.
